THE WOMEN BEHIND THE UNIFORM PROGRAM
Successful Jocks (SJ) created THE WOMEN BEHIND THE UNIFORM PROGRAM, where women alike can come together to be inspired, motivated, and recharged. THE WOMEN BEHIND THE UNIFORM PROGRAM allows mothers and mother figures to have a safe place to discuss the challenges they may face raising athletes, ask questions and get answers, share testimonies, have fun and be empowered. We bond, grow and support one another, all with the common goal of nurturing athletes to become successful men, leaders, sons, fathers, husbands, and role models. THE WOMEN BEHIND THE UNIFORM PROGRAM will create a sisterhood like no other, through outreach, empowerment activities, sporting events and workshops. Our workshops will be designed with the overall health and well-being of athletes as our No. 1 priority. Topics will focus on mental health awareness, nutrition, safety & athletic performance and the championship game of life.
Who are these women?
Behind every great athlete is a mother or mom figure – a woman or group of women who have lifted these boys and men up and helped them to realize their dreams. Behind every great athlete who believes in himself is a mother who believed in him first. Behind every fearless player is a courageous woman who refuses to let him be anything but fearless and the best he can be.
Who are these women? They are Superwomen, women who never stop doing whatever it takes to accomplish everything that needs to be done to help their sons achieve their goals. These women wear so many hats that they rarely have time for themselves. These are THE WOMEN BEHIND THE UNIFORM. These are the women who need inspiration, support and strength from other Superwomen. They are the purpose of our organization, Successful Jocks & The Women Behind the Uniform.
Blessed to be a blessing program
THE BLESSED TO BE A BLESSING PROGRAM connects Successful Jocks (SJ) participants, volunteers, and beneficiaries to various volunteer opportunities in the community to embrace our mission further. SJ believes that we rise by lifting others, because by helping others, we help ourselves become successful. Furthermore, immersing ourselves in the community and surrounding ourselves with people dedicated to bettering the world help us gain a unique sense of purpose, which is manifested in other areas of our lives.
SJ gives back to the community is a variety of ways. Some of these ways include individually, as an organization, and in partnerships with other organizations for a day of giving. Not only are we are concerned about the well-being of the women behind the uniform and their athletes, but through our Blessed to Be a Blessing program, SJ will be active and visible in the community, being a blessing to low-income single moms, foster/adoptive children, mothers nurturing children with disabilities and women living in homeless shelters with their children. This program varies in locations, activities, days, and times.
college dorm makeover ESSAY CONTEST
Recipients of this program are awarded based on a one-page essay contest, written by their student-athletes. The Topic: WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO BECOME A SUCCESSFUL JOCK? For student-athletes, going to college is a dream come true. However, for some of the women caring for them, this blessing can also create a financial strain. Successful Jocks (SJ) created THE COLLEGE DORM ROOM MAKEOVER ESSAY CONTEST to offer support to women by assisting them with the essentials and supplies needed to provide a comfortable home away from home and a thriving environment for their student-athletes. Essays will be accepted beginning March 1st through April 30th (deadline). The winner(s) (Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze categories) are chosen by an impartial group of judges appointed by the Successful Jocks' Board of Directors in early May. Prizes will be distributed by June 15th. The dorm room make-over prizes may include but not limited to: laptops, printers, refrigerators, mattress pads, sheets, towels, storage supplies, cleaning supplies, school supplies, snacks, and more. Platinum prize winners will receive all of the above prizes listed
